Epic Seven Builds: Gear, Sets and Stat Priorities

Most Epic Seven builds start from the same rule: Speed set and Speed boots, then the stats that match the hero's role. Damage dealers want Attack%, Crit Chance and Crit Damage; tanks want HP, Defense and Effect Resistance; debuffers need Effectiveness. To copy a proven build for a specific hero, look up the most-used stats and sets from the Fribbels Hero Library on epic7db.

Gear Slots and Main Stats

Every hero equips six pieces of gear. The left side has fixed main stats: the weapon gives flat Attack, the helmet flat Health and the armor flat Defense. The right side is where builds are made.

The necklace can roll Attack%, Health%, Defense%, Crit Chance or Crit Damage. The ring can roll Attack%, Health%, Defense%, Effectiveness or Effect Resistance. Boots can roll Attack%, Health%, Defense% or Speed, and Speed boots are the most sought-after piece in the game.

Gear Sets Worth Knowing

Sets come in 4-piece and 2-piece versions, and you can combine one 4-piece with one 2-piece or run three 2-piece sets. The Speed set is the backbone of most PvP and Hunt builds. The 8th anniversary added three new sets: Riposte, Warfare and Pursuit.

  • Speed (4): +25% Speed
  • Attack (4): +45% Attack
  • Destruction (4): +60% Crit Damage
  • Lifesteal (4): heals 20% of damage dealt
  • Counter (4): 30% counterattack chance
  • Critical (2): +12% Crit Chance
  • Hit (2): +20% Effectiveness
  • Health, Defense or Resist (2): +20% of that stat

Substat Priorities by Role

Each piece can carry up to four substats. Speed, Crit Chance, Crit Damage and Attack% are the premium rolls for damage dealers. Tanks and bruisers value Health, Defense and Effect Resistance, while debuffers and controllers trade damage stats for Effectiveness.

Effectiveness matters because the debuff chance is 100% plus your Effectiveness minus the target's Effect Resistance, capped at 85%. A breaker that misses its defense break is worth less than a slightly slower one that lands it. Speed tuning is covered in our CR check guide.

Enhancing, Reforging and Modification

Gear enhances up to +15, and a substat is revealed or upgraded at +3, +6, +9 and +12. Enhance new pieces to +3 first to see the reveal, and judge four-substat pieces at +9 or +12 before spending Gold on +15. Gold is the main bottleneck once you farm Hunts.

At endgame, Level 85 gear at +15 can be reforged, which raises the main stat and every substat. Modification Gems reroll one chosen substat, letting you fix a single weak line without replacing the piece.

Where to Farm Each Set

Hunts are the main gear source. Stay on Wyvern until you have Speed sets, then branch out. The anniversary also added gear auto-sell and auto-extract, which make long farming sessions easier to manage.

  • Wyvern: Speed, Critical, Hit, Immunity
  • Golem: Attack, Health, Defense, Resist
  • Banshee: Lifesteal, Counter, Destruction, Resist
  • Later Hunts (Azimanak, Caides): Rage, Penetration, Injury and other advanced sets

Copy a Proven Build: Boss Arunka Example

For any specific hero, the most reliable shortcut is aggregate data from the Fribbels Hero Library, shown on epic7db. Boss Arunka, a 5-star Light Knight whose damage scales with Defense, averages 25,567 HP, 2,591 Defense, 126 Speed and 119% Effect Resistance among those players. Her most-used set is Counter plus Immunity at about 40%.

Her top artifacts are M.O.A.S, Proof of Valor and Rocket Punch Gauntlet. Creator Valky adds a practical rule from his Legend account: build each hero on whichever stat split you are fastest on, because speed decides who acts first. Check the tier list to pick which heroes deserve your best gear.

Artifacts and Imprints Matter Too

Gear is only part of a build. Each hero also equips an artifact, and the right one can change a hero's role; Boss Arunka's top artifacts by use rate are M.O.A.S, Proof of Valor and Rocket Punch Gauntlet. Keep every 5-star artifact, since class-exclusive ones like the new Knight artifact A Boss's Dignity become useful later.

Imprints add stats to the hero or the whole team, and some, such as Speed imprints, change your speed tuning. In PvE, the Imprint Circuit unlocks at level 70 and adds boards that remove the enemy's 15% resistance or raise the Crit Damage cap to 400%.
